About the course
Padha Law Associates is organising its 25th Batch of the 6 Weeks Certificate Course in Basic Legal Drafting, commencing on 15 November 2026.
The course will be conducted under the guidance of Adv. Meenu Padha, Advocate, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
This online certificate course focuses on practical legal drafting skills. Participants will learn to prepare various legal documents, petitions, applications, and agreements. The sessions will include case studies, practical examples, and discussions on drafting procedures.
Course curriculum and modules
The curriculum comprises four modules covering important areas of legal drafting.
Module 1: Fundamental legal drafting
- Drafting legal notices, including their purpose, structure, and essential elements.
- Drafting consumer complaints and understanding consumer rights and complaint procedures.
- Drafting basic rent agreements, including essential clauses and legal considerations.
- Drafting applications under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
- Drafting affidavits.
Module 2: Constitutional and procedural drafting
- Drafting writ petitions before the High Courts and Supreme Court, particularly habeas corpus petitions.
- Drafting Public Interest Litigations (PILs) and understanding their application to social causes.
- Drafting interlocutory applications.
Module 3: Civil and family law drafting
- Drafting divorce petitions under the Hindu Marriage Act.
- Drafting civil suits for recovery of money.
- Drafting execution petitions.
- Drafting complaints under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.
- Drafting complaints relating to sexual harassment of women at the workplace under the 2013 legislation.
Module 4: Criminal law drafting
- Understanding First Information Reports (FIRs), their purpose, and format.
- Drafting criminal complaints.
- Drafting bail applications.
- Drafting quashing petitions.
- Drafting maintenance petitions.
