ABOUT THE ORGANISERS

The Xavier Society of Law and Justice (XSLAJ) was established under the esteemed St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, with a commitment to fostering excellence in legal education and a broader vision of preparing individuals to serve society with integrity and dedication. As a student-run society under the esteemed guidance of our respected Professor-in-Charge, Dr. Animesh Das, XSLAJ holds a pivotal role within the Xavier Law School (XLS), serving as a hub of intellectual innovation and legal development. Founded in 2020 under his leadership, XSLAJ has continually strived to create opportunities for students to engage in academic and practical legal discourse. Over the years, the society has successfully organized three national events and numerous intra-college competitions, including virtual events, thereby enriching the legal acumen of students and fostering a spirit of excellence. The inaugural edition of the Xavier Mediation Competition (XMC’23) marked a significant milestone in realizing the vision of XSLAJ, attracting over 30 teams and 90+ law students from premier national, state, and private universities across India. Building upon this legacy, XMC’24 witnessed an unprecedented level of participation, welcoming over 400 students from some of the most distinguished law schools across the nation. We remain committed to upholding the values of academic integrity, innovation, and service, as we continue to empower future legal professionals through meaningful engagement and rigorous legal discourse.

XSLAJ is back again with XMC’ 25 to be held on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th April, 2025. This year, XMC’25- 3rd Xavier Mediation Competition aims to elevate the legacy to greater heights and invite teams from South Asia, South-East Asia and the Asia Pacific region. XSLAJ is honoured to have partnered with Sharma & Sharma Advocates and Legal Consultants, Khaitan & Co, R. Ginodia & Co and S.K. Lath & Co. Advocates. As our media partners, we have with us LiveLaw, LawBhoomi, DesiKanoon and Knowledge Steez. Legal Bites has partnered with us as our E-resource partner and for our knowledge partners, we are delighted to bring on board Mediate Guru, Manupatra, LawFoyer and Legal Specs.

REGISTRATION FEE:

INR 4500 for students from universities/colleges etc. within India.
USD 60 for students from universities within SAARC region (except India).
USD 100 for students from universities outside SAARC region.

ACCOMMODATION:

For a comforting experience for participants wishing to avail accommodation, accommodation in the University Hostel will be provided at a subsidized nominal cost.

INR 500 per participant for students from universities/colleges etc. within India.
USD 15 per participant per day for students from universities within the SAARC region (except India).
USD 30 per participant per day for students from universities outside the SAARC region.

LAST DAY TO REGISTER:

The last date for registering for the event is the 26th of March, 2025.

AWARDS AND OPPORTUNITIES

The participants of XMC’25 – 3rd Xavier Mediation Competition will be competing for a prize pool of Rs. 2.1 lakhs:
The Best Negotiating Pair will be awarded a cash prize of 1,00,000 along with the prestigious “XMC-Champions Cup”.
The Best Mediator will be awarded a cash prize of 50,000 along with the prestigious “XMC- Magis Cup” .
The cash prize for the Runner-up Negotiating Pair will be Rs. 40,000
The Runner-Up Mediator will be awarded 20,000.
The Best Negotiator from the Prelims round will receive a trophy in this regard as well.
All the Winners will get Printed Merit Certificates, Medals & trophies.
The winners shall also receive paid internship opportunities at Khaitan & Co.
