ABOUT THE ORGANISER/COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY:

The Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow is a pioneer legal institution of India. It was established in 1921 with three teachers. Mr. Jag Mohan Nath Chak was its first Dean. The real architect was Prof. R. U. Singh with great zeal and enthusiasm organized teaching and research in the faculty in the systematic way. He held office of the dean, faculty of Law till 1956. He also structured the Law Faculty of Delhi University and Law School, B.H.U. The distinction goes to him that he drafted the Constitution of Nepal. Dr. V. N. Shukla, the well-known authority on Constitutional Law was the first LL.M. of the University. His book on the Constitution is an authoritative Volume. Dr. A.T. Markos was the first LL.D. of the faculty. He also held the office of the Director, Indian Law Institute. The first Post Graduate Diploma in Criminology was started in 1964. The Post Graduate Diploma in “Environmental Pollution Law”, “Consumer Protection Law”, “Labour and Personnel Management” were started in 1994. The Post Graduate Diploma in “Criminal Procedure and Advocacy” was started in the year 1995. The faculty has introduced LL.B. (Hons.) Five Year Course in 1995. The faculty offers Undergraduate, Post Graduate, Doctoral and Post Doctoral Programmes. The faculty has introduced CBCS System in LL.M. Programme. The faculty is running a Centre of Excellence on Gandhian Dream of Litigation Free Village. The faculty was runner up in K.K. Luthra Memorial Moot Court in 2018. The faculty hosts Dr. R.U. Singh Memorial National Moot Court.

DETAILS ABOUT THE EVENT/OPPORTUNITY:

PRO BONO CHRONICLES: A competition to analyze and present reports on the pro bono/ legal aid work of the institution, highlighting social impact and legal solutions

POLICY ALCHEMY: A competition to draft legal policies on any of the given issues or any other issue, focusing on feasibility, clarity, and legal soundness.

REFRAMERS ASSEMBLY:  A contest to propose and justify amendments to the Constitution of India on any of the given problems or any other problem to address contemporary legal and social issues

Reframers’ Assembly is completely an online competition. In Pro Bono Chronicles and Policy Alchemy, a maximum of six teams from all participating teams will advance to the final round, which will be held offline at auditorium on 03.05.2025. Thesecompetition will consist of two phases: an online phase, where teams will submit their reports/policy-paper through a designated online platform, and an offline phase, where the top six selected teams in each will compete in person. The final presentations will take place in an auditorium, where the shortlisted teams will present their work before the judges.

WHO IS IT FOR / ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE:

Students pursuing graduate (LLB 3-year and 5-year courses) and postgraduate degrees, as well as Research Scholars and PhD Candidates in Law, are eligible to participate in the Pro Bono Chronicles. For Policy Alchemy and Reframers’ Assembly, students pursuing graduate and postgraduate degrees, as well as Research Scholars and PhD Candidates from any field of study can participate.

MODE OF THE EVENT (ONLINE / OFFLINE OR HYBRID):

Event will be conducted in two rounds for Pro Bono Chronicles and Policy Alchemy and for Reframers’s Assembly is in virtual mode.
