
LawFoyer proudly celebrates the remarkable success of Virat Kumar, a third year BBA LLB student from Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar, who has brought immense pride to his institution by securing the Runner Up position at the prestigious ACCORDO Intercollegiate Mediation Competition. The event was hosted by the School of Law and Kristu Jayanti College of Law, Kristu Jayanti University, Bengaluru on 16 and 17 October 2025.
The ACCORDO Intercollegiate Mediation Competition is one of India’s well regarded platforms for aspiring legal professionals who wish to develop their negotiation, mediation and collaborative problem solving abilities. This year, the competition saw strong participation from teams across the country, making Virat’s achievement even more noteworthy. Competing at the national level, he and his teammate Divyanjali Vudipi displayed calmness, clarity and sharp reasoning throughout multiple rounds, earning the respect of judges and participants alike.

Virat’s journey to this achievement is a story of dedication, resilience and determination. He represented Birla Global University with great poise, carrying not just his own aspirations but also the hope of his institution. With this win, he and his teammate secured the first ever trophy for their law school, a milestone that holds deep emotional significance for both of them and for the entire student community at BGU.
The competition was judged by esteemed experts, and the final round was presided over by Hon’ble Justice Indira Banerjee, Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India. Competing under such a distinguished panel added great value to the experience and further highlighted the achievement of Virat and his partner.
In his personal reflection, Virat shared that this victory feels incredibly special because it represents not only his hard work but also the beginning of a proud legacy for his law school.
