ABOUT THE ORGANISER/COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY

Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, established in 2014, is one of India’s esteemed National Law Universities. It is dedicated to advanced legal education and research to promote societal well-being, and its curriculum adheres to the standards of the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission. The University functions under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey, Vice-President of the Consortium of NLUs and Vice-Chancellor of MNLU Mumbai.

The Centre for Research in Air and Space Law (CRASL) at MNLU Mumbai is envisioned as a specialised hub for research and dialogue on international air and space law. It focuses on issues such as passenger safety, hijacking, air pollution, aerial warfare, outer space security, and the legal frameworks governing the rapidly evolving aerospace sector. The Centre aims to improve legal and policy frameworks for safe, secure, affordable and sustainable use of airspace and outer space, while promoting education and research at graduate and postgraduate levels.

DETAILS ABOUT THE EVENT/OPPORTUNITY

CRASL invites submissions to the IRASL Blog under a themed Call for Blogs on “Emerging Trends in Air and Space Laws.” This is an opportunity for authors to critically analyse contemporary developments in aviation and space law and contribute to scholarly discourse in this niche but rapidly growing field.

Submissions must be between 1200–1500 words, substantially related to aviation law or space law, with a focus on contemporary issues. All entries must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. The maximum similarity and AI index permitted is 15%, and manuscripts should not contain any identifying details of the author(s) to maintain anonymity.

A non-exhaustive list of suggested sub-themes includes:

  • The New Space Economy and Commercialisation

  • Air Space and Outer Space Delimitation and Integration

  • Legal & Ethical Governance of AI in Aerospace

  • Regulation of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and Air Taxis

  • Cybersecurity in Aviation and Space Infrastructure

  • The Prevention of an Arms Race in Outer Space (PAROS) and Space Security

  • Mitigation and Remediation of Space Debris

  • Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) and the future role of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF)

  • The Role of International Aerospace Law in Conflict and Sanctions

  • The Regulatory Convergence of Drones and Manned Aviation

  • The Commercialisation of Outer Space and Property Rights

  • Legal Instruments for Climate Action in Aviation

All submissions must follow the prescribed formatting guidelines: Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 line spacing for body text; headings in font size 14 and bold; sub-headings in font size 14, 1.5 spacing, underlined in small caps. Hyperlinks should be used for sources wherever possible; if hyperlinking is not feasible, endnotes may be used in Times New Roman, font size 10, single line spacing, following any uniform citation style. Manuscripts must be submitted in .doc/.docx format, and the file name should be the title of the submission.

All entries undergo a double-blind peer review by the Editorial Board, which retains absolute discretion regarding acceptance or rejection. The Board will attempt to respond to authors within 15 days of submission.

Submissions are invited from:

  • Students

  • Legal professionals

  • Academicians

  • Any individuals with a keen interest in aviation and space law

Co-authorship is permitted with a maximum of two authors per submission.

MODE OF THE EVENT (ONLINE / OFFLINE OR HYBRID)

This is an online call for blogs. All submissions will be accepted only through the designated Google Form and must be uploaded as Microsoft Word documents.

The call is organised by:

  • Located in the Powai region of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

(As this is an online blog submission initiative, there is no physical event venue.)

REGISTRATION / SUBMISSION LINKS & PROCEDURE

  • All submissions shall be accepted only via the Google Form link provided by CRASL for this Call for Blogs.

  • Manuscripts must:

    • Be 1200–1500 words (flexible at the Editorial Board’s discretion).

    • Be related to aviation law or space law, engaging with contemporary issues.

    • Be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.

    • Maintain a similarity and AI index not exceeding 15%.

    • Be anonymised (no author name, institution, or other identifying details in the document).

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) only; file name should match the title of the blog.

Failure to comply with the General Guidelines will lead to automatic rejection, regardless of the quality of content.

DEADLINES / IMPORTANT DATES

  • Last date for submission of blogs: 7 January 2026.

  • The Editorial Board aims to communicate its decision to authors within 15 days of submission.
