DETAILS ABOUT THE EVENT/OPPORTUNITY:
Health is a fundamental human right, yet inequities in healthcare access and outcomes persist globally, disproportionately affecting marginalized communities. In the era of globalization, challenges such as climate change, migration crises, pandemics, and technological disruptions transcend national boundaries, making the protection and promotion of human rights and public health integral to international law. These issues demand cohesive, cross-border responses rooted in established legal principles. However, significant challenges remain, including limited enforcement mechanisms, systemic inequities, and emerging concerns such as digital privacy, climate-induced migration, and health disparities. These complex global challenges require a re-evaluation of both international and national legal frameworks to ensure the protection of human rights and public health remains effective and equitable. This conference “Public Health And Human Rights: A Multidimensional Approach To Equity, Justice And Resilience” aims to explore the intersections of these global challenges and address the systemic barriers preventing equitable healthcare access and the upholding of human rights. By engaging with the legal, social, and cultural dimensions of health inequities, this event will explore the implementation of key international treaties, including the Nagoya Protocol on Biodiversity, the WHO Framework Conventions, and the Pandemic Treaty currently under negotiation. These frameworks are crucial for managing global health risks and ensuring international cooperation, but they must evolve to better address issues such as gender equity, migration law, and digital rights, which are increasingly relevant in today’s interconnected world. At the heart of the conference is the understanding that health is a holistic concept shaped by social, political, and economic determinants, with human rights providing the framework for dignity, equality, and justice. The event will focus on integrating intersectional perspectives into global health governance, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and bridging gaps in understanding. It will also explore the integration of indigenous medical systems, such as Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani, offering holistic, culturally inclusive approaches to health that complement modern biomedical practices. Additionally, the symposium will address the ethical dilemmas surrounding biomedicine warfare and health security, calling for robust global governance, ethical safeguards, and equitable access to health protection in light of evolving global threats. Together, these discussions aim to inspire innovative solutions for achieving health justice and advancing human rights worldwide.
