Jiya Javrani and Team from Dr. D.Y. Patil Law College, Pune Shine Bright at the 16th GNLU International Moot Court Competition 2025, Bag the Best Written Submissions Award

Patil Law College, Pimpri, Pune, who, along with her teammates Isha Patel and Sejal Gotaphode, brought laurels to their institution by winning the Best Written Submissions Award at the 16th GNLU International Moot Court Competition (GIMC) 2025, organized by Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar.

The GIMC 2025, held from 24th to 28th September 2025, is one of India’s most prestigious international law moots, attracting participants from across the country and abroad. This year’s competition saw the participation of 72 teams, each demonstrating excellence in legal research, advocacy, and interpretation of international trade law. Among such fierce competition, Jiya and her team’s exceptional memorials stood out, earning them the coveted Best Written Submissions Trophy and a cash prize of INR 10,000, as highlighted in the official GNLU brochure.

What makes this achievement even more inspiring is the team’s journey. Despite having no prior experience in international law, Jiya and her teammates decided to take on the challenge. Their path was filled with long nights of research, numerous drafts, and the constant pursuit of precision. Yet, their unwavering dedication, teamwork, and hunger to learn turned obstacles into opportunities. Their achievement is not just a testament to their academic strength but also to their courage to step beyond their comfort zones.

In her own words, Jiya reflects,

“Winning the Best Written Submissions Award at GIMC 2025 was truly a milestone we’ll cherish forever. Despite having no prior exposure to international law, our team decided to take the leap. What followed were nights of research, endless revisions, and moments of doubt but also immense learning, teamwork, and growth. Competing among 72 teams from across India, this achievement wasn’t just about winning; it was about believing in ourselves and pushing beyond our comfort zones.”

Her heartfelt message to aspiring law students is both simple and profound: “Stop overthinking, stop fearing failure, and just start. Each participation, win or lose, will shape you, teach you, and add a story worth sharing.”
