SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) is one of India’s premier multidisciplinary universities with a legacy spanning over four decades. Established in 1981 under the aegis of Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), NMIMS operates across multiple campuses including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Indore, and more.

The School of Law at NMIMS Indore, established in 2019, offers integrated law programs and emphasizes holistic legal education through academic rigor, practical exposure, and professional ethics.

SAMATVA, the Legal Aid & Awareness Cell, works towards promoting legal awareness, access to justice, and social empowerment through various initiatives such as legal aid camps, workshops, and outreach programs.

DETAILS ABOUT THE EVENT/OPPORTUNITY

Nyaya Setu: The AI & Justice Policy Convention is a national-level policy drafting competition conceptualized as a policy hackathon. It focuses on addressing emerging challenges posed by Generative AI in the Indian legal system.

The competition requires participants to draft practical and implementable policy frameworks and simulate real-world policymaking through a Parliamentary Standing Committee process.

Key focus areas include:

  • AI-assisted legal information systems
  • Legal document drafting tools
  • Case assessment mechanisms
  • Multilingual access to justice
  • Research support for legal aid lawyers

WHO IS IT FOR / ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE

  • Open to students pursuing a recognized degree from any university or college in India
  • Teams must consist of 2 members
  • A participant can be part of only one team

MODE OF THE EVENT

Hybrid Mode:

  • Preliminary Round: Online
  • Subsequent Rounds: Offline (On-campus)
